Not every news is bad news for Portugal. Infarmed, the Portuguese national drug authority, is reporting that they have attained the third position in the European Drug Evaluation system, thanks to the 225 evaluation procedures started in 2012.
Of these 225 procedures, 30 of them were mutual recognition procedures and 195 were decentralized ones.
Back in 2007, Infarmed was in the 14th position, so this increase is a sign that other European Member States and Pharmaceutical companies trust in Portugal, and its regulatory authority, as a reference member state to conduct proper evaluation of new drugs for the European Market.
